Vol. 302 No. 4

Written Answers. - Robbery Statistics.

292.

asked the Minister for Justice the number of robberies which have taken place since January, 1977, stating in each case the name, address, date and amount stolen, if known, of each robbery.

The number of robberies and aggravated burglaries recorded as having been committed in the period 1st January to 31st October, 1977, is as follows:

Robbery with arms

237

(including 58 offences which were also aggravated burglaries)

Other robberies

550

Aggravated buglaries (not being armed robberies)

240

Assembling the other information sought in the question would involve a search through the records of each Garda station in the country. It would not be possible to do this in the time available and I do not consider that the allocation of scarce Garda resources to the task of compiling the information would be justified.
