Written Answers. - Farm Retirement Scheme.

186.

asked the Minister for Agriculture why farmers in the Farm Retirement Scheme are not allowed to offer for sale the product of two statute acres retained by them; and if he will consider having this injustice and wastage rectified.

The provision in the Farmers' Retirement Scheme whereby a participant undertakes to discontinue all agricultural activity leading to the marketing of agricultural products is in accordance with the requirements of EEC Directive 160.
