Vol. 302 No. 8

Written Answers. - Department of Defence Tradesmen.

191.

asked the Minister for Defence if he will consider bringing the salaries of the tradesmen with his Department in line with tradesmen in the private sector.

The pay of civilian tradesmen employed by my Department is directly related to that of tradesmen in the Government service generally and attracts the increases granted to Government tradesmen including increases under the National Wage Agreements. Claims for revision of pay are negotiated through the Joint Industrial Council for State Industrial Employees.
