Vol. 302 No. 8

Written Answers. - Meath Houses.

202.

asked the Minister for the Environment (a) the allocation for local authority houses to Meath County Council for 1977; (b) the amount that has been paid and (c) why the balance has not been paid.

Meath County Council were notified on 22nd March, 1977, of a total authorised provision of £1.700 million for their local authority housing construction programme in 1977, including approved amounts of incoming and outgoing debit balance. The council were then informed that £1.554 million of this total amount would be made available from the Local Loans Fund or from special—interest subsidised—overdraft; that the balance of £0.146 million should be met by way of normal working overdraft; and that they would be notified later of the amount to be met by the special over-draft, which was included in the £1.700 million. On 6th October, 1977, the council were notified of an increase of £0.050 million, bringing their total authorised provision for 1977 to £1.750 million, made up as follows:

£ million

Local Loans Fund allocation

1.400

Special—interest subsidised—overdraft

.210

Sub-total

1.610

Normal working overdraft

.140

Total

1.750

The Local Loans Fund allocation of £1.400 million has been paid in full. Details have not been submitted to my Department yet of the amounts of special—interest subsidised—overdraft or normal working overdraft which have been taken up to date by the council.
