asked the Minister of Education if he will state, in relation to the Hardiman Bequest, whether any of the income of the bequest was, in the last complete financial period for which figures are available, applied within his Department to defray travelling or any other expenses incurred by officials of his Department; and, if so, how much money was so spent, and the category or categories of officials concerned.

In the year ended 31st December, 1976, the last complete financial period for which figures are available, no portion of the income of the Hardiman Bequest was applied within my Department to defray travelling or any other expenses incurred by officials of my Department.
