asked the Minister for Agriculture the total commodities, in terms of volume and estimated value, held in intervention for the EEC for each of the last four years; and the total cost per annum of the intervention system.
Written Answers. - EEC Intervention Commodities.
Two commodities, beef and skim milk powder, have been held in intervention.
The quantities have continually varied throughout each year depending on purchases and sales. The following table shows the stocks held at the end of each year and their value, as well as the cost per annum of the intervention system. The latter relates to storage, transport, interest and other charges and is recounted almost entirely from the European Agricultural Guidance and Guarantee Fund.
