Vol. 303 No. 6

Written Answers. - Athy Telephone Applications.

203.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he is aware that shortage of exchange equipment at Athy, County Kildare, has meant that telephone applications dating from 1976 are incapable of being dealt with or a forecast given of when they will be dealt with; and the action he proposes to take in the matter.

There is no shortage of exchange equipment at Athy. Some applications for telephones received in 1976 were deferred either because of a shortage of underground cable or because provision of service would involve extensive construction work. It is expected that terms will be quoted in all these cases before the end of this year.
