Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Coal and Anthracite Deposits.

9.

asked the Minister for Industry, Commerce and Energy the energy content of the known coal and anthracite deposits in this country.

The Geological Survey Office have indicated that there are about six million tonnes of anthracite in the Leinster and Slieveardagh coalfields and about five million tonnes of semi-bituminous coal in the Connaught coalfield which are potentially workable. The oil equivalent of this coal is about six million tonnes.
