Vol. 304 No. 5

Written Answers. - Shannonbridge, County Offaly Mooring Facilities.

390.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will take steps to improve the lack of mooring facilities for cruisers at Shannonbridge, County Offaly by the provision of a large jetty near the bridge which would facilitate overnight stops and visits during the day.

It is proposed to provide approximately 200 feet of additional quay space further downstream of the existing quay at Shannonbridge. The general deck level of the new quay will be suitable for summer water levels but there will also be provision for higher water levels. Weather conditions permitting, it is hoped that work on the project will commence during May of this year.

The improved facilities should cater for existing river traffic and for the anticipated increase for the next few years at least.
