Vol. 304 No. 6

Written Answers. - Brucellosis Testing.

499.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will agree to the setting up of a blood testing station in Cork with an office staff and equipment, in view of the long delay caused in sending samples to Dublin and the high incidence of brucellosis.

The volume of blood samples at present received from the Cork area would not warrant the substantial expenditure involved in setting up and operating separate blood testing facilities in Cork. I do not accept that sending samples to Dublin causes a long delay. Results normally issue within three days of receipt of the samples in the Department's laboratory at Thorndale, Dublin.
