Vol. 304 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - South Tipperary Voluntary Youth Organisations.

19.

asked the Minister for Education the nature and amounts of grants available to voluntary youth organisations in the south Tipperary area; and if he will increase these grants with a view to enabling these bodies to expand their valuable contribution to the local communities.

Grants are paid to national governing bodies or youth organisations towards the costs of administration, training programmes and equipment. Grants are not paid to individual clubs. I am not in a position to say what amount of the grants paid by my Department to youth organisations any year has been devoted to south Tipperary. Grants available for distribution to youth organisations in 1978 will be in excess of what was available in 1977.
