Vol. 305 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Registration of Physiotherapists.

50.

asked the Minister for Health if any consideration has been given to establishing a system of registration for Irish physiotherapists, since unqualified nationals of other EEC states may establish practices here.

A system of registration for Irish physiotherapists has been considered but it has not been thought necessary to introduce such a system at present. The qualifications directed by the Minister for persons holding the office of physiotherapist are such as to preclude from appointment persons whose qualifications and training are inadequate.

Should developments involving other member states of the EEC warrant it, the matter will be considered again.
