Vol. 305 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Hospital Research Projects.

18.

asked the Minister for Health the measures his Department have taken to ensure that hospitals receiving money from public funds co-operate with the Medico-Social Research Board's hospital in-patients inquiry and other research projects essential to the provision of quality care in Ireland.

My Department have recently approved of the recruitment of 15 records staff who will be employed in hospitals on the hospital in-patient inquiry. I understand that the Medico-Social Research Board expect that this extra staff will help to ensure the success of the inquiry. Hospitals have given ready co-operation on specific research projects where this co-operation has been sought.
