Vol. 305 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Hospital Free Travel Scheme.

21.

asked the Minister for Health the number of visits per year allowed to medical cardholders under the free travel scheme for parents with children in long-stay institutions; the number of people who have availed of this scheme; the amount spent on this scheme in the last year; and if his Department have any plans for the expansion of the scheme.

Under the scheme referred to a medical cardholder or another member of the family can make 12 visits per year; information is not available in my Department as to the number of people who have availed of this scheme and the amount spent on it in the last year, but I am having it collected from the health boards and will forward it to the Deputy. There are no proposals to expand the scheme.
