Vol. 305 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Car Rental Council Complaint.

32.

asked the Minister for Tourism and Transport the action he proposes to take regarding the complaints of the Car Rental Council of Ireland as outlined by them in their letter of 20th March 1978.

The three State airports are managed by Aer Rianta and the letting of the car rental concessions at the airports is primarily a matter for that company. I understand that, arising out of discussions between the company and the Car Rental Council of Ireland, the council have agreed to recommend to its members acceptance of agreed modified arrangements for the letting of car rental concessions at Cork and Shannon.

The position in relation to Dublin is that tenders for the main desks have been accepted as submitted. Discussions are still continuing between the company and the council in relation to the pre-booked concessions at Dublin. In these circumstances, I do not consider any action by me is necessary.

Are the council satisfied with the arrangements that have been arrived at?

I understand that, arising out of the discussions between the company and the council, the council have agreed to recommend to their members acceptance of the modified arrangements for the letting of car rentals in regard to Cork and Shannon.

The remaining questions will appear on next Tuesday's Order Paper.

In view of the unsatisfactory nature of the Minister's reply to Question No. 6 today, I wish to give notice that I intend to raise it on the Adjournment on Tuesday next, 18 April 1978.

The Deputy will have to raise it again on Tuesday next.

I wish to give notice that I intend to raise on the Adjournment today the question of Government finance and subsidy to St. Joseph's primary school, East Wall.

I will communicate with the Deputy.
