Vol. 305 No. 6

Written Answers. - Speed Limit Enforcement.

455.

asked the Minister for Justice if he is aware of the need for the enforcement of the speed limit on Kill Lane, Foxrock, County Dublin; and if he will ensure that traffic checks are carried out.

The Garda authorities have informed me that speed checks that have been carried out from time to time on Kill Lane over the last three years have disclosed very little evidence of any tendency to ignore the speed limits. I am informed, however, that it has been decided that a portion of the road in question that was heretofore subject to a 40 mph limit is in future to be subject to a 30 mph limit but that the necessary signposting has not yet been completed. Periodic speed checks will continue to be made.

456.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he is aware of the urgent need for a revised speed limit on Kill Lane, Foxrock, County Dublin; and if he will have the matter considered.

I made regulations in November 1977 giving effect to the speed limit proposals submitted by Dublin County Council and which included a revision of the speed limit on Kill Lane from 40 mph to 30 mph. The erection of speed signs for the revised speed limit is a matter for the county council.
