The "original group of community schools" comprises those at: Tallaght, Ballinteer, Kilbarrack, Coolmine, Malahide, Cabinteely, Springfield, Old Bawn, Blakestown, Balally, The Donahies (in Dublin), Mayfield, Millstreet, Castletownbere, Ballincollig, Douglas Road, Bishopstown, Clonakilty (in Cork), Carndonagh, Cloughaneely, Gweedore, Dungloe (in Donegal), Galvone (Limerick), Moyne (Longford), Ardee (Louth), Carna, Clifden (Galway), Ballyhaunis (Mayo), Ramsgrange (Wexford), Tullow (Carlow), Birr (Offaly) and Bailieborough (Cavan).

These schools are the "original group" by reference to the period in which arrangements for their provision were completed.
