Vol. 305 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers.

On a point of order, may I ask whether the Chair would not regard it as a good rule of courtesy, if nothing else, that the House should be provided with an explanation of why a particular Minister is not here to answer his questions when they are reached?

The Deputy will appreciate that the Chair has no function in the matter. I am sure somebody will take note of the Deputy's remarks.

As the Deputy is aware, one of the visiting dignitaries, Prince Henrik of Denmark, is in Tuam at the opening of a factory today and the Minister for Industry, Commerce and Energy is there in his official capacity. I think that is not unusual.

That is an explanation, but he is lucky that way——

(Interruptions.)

The Minister for Industry, Commerce and Energy is a dedicated Minister and is never off the ball.

We cannot have a debate now on the merits or demerits of any Member of the House.

(Interruptions.)

You will not frighten that Minister.
