The tabular statement below sets out (a) total expenditure from the National Exchequer in 1977 relating to Directives 72/159/EEC, 72/160/EEC and 72/161/EEC; and (b) estimates of the contributions which will be received from EEC funds towards that expenditure.

Application for reimbursement in respect of 1977 eligible expenditure is due to be submitted to the EEC Commission before 1 July 1978. Not all national expenditures attract an EEC contribution.

1. Directive 72/159/EEC
The expenditure shown includes grants at higher rates for development farmers in disadvantaged areas, and aid for joint investments for the improvement of fodder production in disadvantaged areas, both of which are provided for under Directive 75/268/EEC
2. Directive 72/160/EEC
In addition a sum of £1,715,311 was expended on the purchase of land by the Land Commission under this Directive.
3. Directive 72/161/EEC
The expenditure in this case is borne by the County Committees of Agriculture and financed partly from local rates contributions and partly from the Exchequer.
