I refer the Deputy to my reply to Questions No. 33-36 on 23 February 1978. As I said on that occasion the curriculum unit of my Department is at present engaged in a review of the teaching of mathematics in primary schools and the indications so far are that, the subject is, in general, being taught satisfactorily. When the review and evaluation have been completed I shall take such steps as the results may suggest to be necessary or desirable.
