Vol. 306 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Darndale (Dublin) Estate Traffic Control.

13.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will provide a system of traffic light control with a pedestrian crossing at the entrance to the Darndale Estate on the Malahide Road, Dublin, in view of the fast heavy traffic on the road and the tragic fatalities which have occurred there in recent years.

The provision of pedestrian lights, or other such facilities is a matter for the road authority, acting with the consent or at the request of the Commissioner of the Garda Síochána. I understand that in the case referred to in the Deputy's question, Dublin County Council have installed a set of pedestrian lights and that these are now in operation.
