Vol. 306 No. 5

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take Nos. 4, 5, 6, 7 (resumed) and 8 (resumed). Business will be interrupted at 3.30 p.m. to take No. 5 and will continue with Nos. 6, 7 and 8 thereafter. Private Members' Business will be taken from 7 p.m. to 8.30 p.m., No. 15 (resumed).

On the Order of Business, in view of the statement by the Minister for the Environment yesterday which has now proved to be incorrect in relation to replies to Questions Nos. 28 and 29, I wonder if it is the Minister's intention to make a statement on the matter?

It is not in order to raise that matter now. If the Minister wishes to make a statement——

I was not informed of the fact that the Deputy was raising this matter this morning. I did not mislead the House.

I beg to——

We may not have a discussion.

On the Order of Business, I mentioned to the Minister yesterday that, if he made a personal statement, I would not pursue the matter. I have a letter here from the Dublin city manager which shows that the information given by the Minister was incorrect.

I will not allow the Deputy to raise this matter.

May I raise it on the Adjournment this evening?

I asked if I could raise the matter on the Adjournment.

On a point of order, at what stage of the proceedings in the House is a Deputy like Deputy Mitchell authorised or allowed to make a statement of this nature or inquire into matters of this nature?

The Deputy will have no difficulty in finding that out if he looks at Standing Orders.

I ask permission to raise this matter on the Adjournment.

I will communicate with the Deputy in the usual way.

I trust the Deputy's wild allegations will be dealt with.

The wild allegations are the allegations of the Dublin city manager.

We have had a contradiction from the Minister.

In view of the repeated denials of the allegations by the Minister of State I wonder would the Taoiseach make a statement?

I am calling the first business.
