Vol. 306 No. 5

Written Answers. - Music Association of Ireland.

193.

asked the Minister for Education why he has refused to meet a deputation from the Music Association of Ireland; and if he will increase the grant for the school music recital scheme.

It was explained to the Music Association of Ireland in a letter of 28 Aibreán 1978 why I was unable to meet a deputation from the association. I would not consider it appropriate to refer in detail to the contents of the letter other than to say it was suggested that it might be useful if representatives of the association were to meet appropriate officers of my Department to discuss particular matters.

The grant to the Music Association of Ireland is by way of grant-in-aid and the appropriate amount to be paid in 1978 may not exceed that provided in the relevant subhead, G. 16 of Vote 30.
