Vol. 306 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Post-Natal Services.

29.

asked the Minister for Health if he has investigated suggestions of possible deficiencies in the post-natal services; and, if so, the outcome of such investigations.

My Department have asked each director of community care for detailed information in relation to the references made to suggested deficiencies in the post-natal services at the Annual General Meeting of the Irish Nurses' Organisation in October 1977.

When I have received and considered this information I will review the situation.

When the Minister was asked this question more than six months ago he said he was not aware of any deficiencies but he did invite Members of the House to supply him with information.

Each director of community care has been asked for detailed information in so far as his area is concerned. No later than yesterday I had a long and detailed discussion with the directors of community care on this matter.

Is the Minister not aware that I wrote to him after his previous unsatisfactory reply giving him details of the complaints made by the Irish Nurses' Organisation and that the Minister replied to me last December that he would be in touch with me again shortly in regard to this matter? Is the Minister not aware that I have not received a reply from him since last December?
