Vol. 306 No. 7

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take business in the following order: Nos. 1 and 6 (Resumed). Private Members' Business will be taken from 7 p.m. to 8.30 p.m., No. 45, by agreement.

May I inquire as to the reason for refusing to accept my Private Notice Question relating to the serious disturbances in Ringaskiddy yesterday?

It is not in order to raise that matter in the manner in which the Deputy is raising it. For the Deputy's information, it is not a matter for a Private Notice Question. It is a matter of a past event, and matters pertaining to it may be raised in the ordinary way by ordinary question.

Does the Chair accept that there is serious public concern about this matter? It is a matter of public importance.

We will not have any discussion. It is a past event and any matters arising out of it may be raised in the ordinary manner.

(Cavan-Monaghan): It sounds like an on-going event.

It is a matter that has arisen in the past 24 hours. Even though it is the tip of an iceberg in a way, it is something that has come up very suddenly which needs a Ministerial statement.

The Chair has applied all the usual criteria in relation to Private Notice Questions. The question is not in order.
