Vol. 306 No. 9

Written Answers. - National Resources Development.

102.

asked the Minister for Economic Planning and Development the planning and development work which has been carried out by his Department to create new jobs in, and exploit the potential of the natural resources area.

Natural resources embrace a number of sectors including agriculture, forestry and minerals. Plans for the development of these resources are the concern of the Department of Economic Planning and Development acting in consultation with the Departments directly involved. Initial action to be taken has already been outlined in the White Paper on National Development published earlier this year and the forthcoming Green Paper will indicate options for further development. In both instances the creation of the maximum number of sustainable new jobs is seen as a top priority.
