Vol. 307 No. 1

Written Answers . - Kerry Old Age Pension Applications .

140.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare the reason for the delay in granting a non-contributory old age pension to a couple (details supplied) in County Kerry.

: Non-contributory old age pensions have not been granted to the persons concerned as the social welfare officer has appealed against the decisions of the local pension sub-committee, awarding pensions at the maximum rate, on the ground that the claimants' means exceed the statutory limit for entitlement to pension. A deed of transfer of the claimant's farm has been executed and the appeals officer awaits confirmation that the deed has been stamped before he gives his decisions.

141.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare why a couple (details supplied) in County Kerry are not in receipt of a full non-contributory old age pension.

: Non-contributory old age pensions at the maximum rate are in payment to the persons concerned. These pensions were granted to the wife and the husband by the decisions of an appeals officer and the local pension sub-committee respectively on receipt of confirmation that a deed of transfer of a farm had been stamped. Pensions at reduced rates were previously being paid to the persons concerned on a provisional basis.
