asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he has any proposals to change the regulations whereby public telephone kiosks are erected only outside existing sub-post offices in rural areas, where the local authority will not act as guarantor for such kiosks.

: When speaking on the Telephone Capital Bill in the Dáil on 12 October last, I stated that I was having an examination made of the arrangements for provision of rural kiosks to see whether they could be improved. A detailed statistical study has been carried out and the result is being studied. I hope to be in a position to make a statement in the matter in the not too distant future.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will authorise the employment of additional labourers in County Mayo, to expedite installations and reduce the long waiting list.

: The employment of additional labourers in County Mayo is under consideration.
