Vol. 307 No. 3

Written Answers . - Agricultural Income .

101.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will give a breakdown of his calculation that each £ generated in agricultural income increases overall national income by £1.9.

: The calculation is from Irish Input Output Income Multipliers 1964 and 1968 by J.R. Copeland, E.W. Henry, Economic and Social Research Institute, August 1975 which estimates (in Section 3) that every £1 increase in the value of agricultural exports of livestock and livestock products leads to an increase of £1.9 in the gross national product.
