Vol. 307 No. 6

Written Answers . - EEC Payments and Receipts .

138.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will identify the £51 million collected by EEC institutions in 1977, referred to in reply to Question No. 155 of 30 May 1978, in the statement of receipts and payments listed in reply to Question No. 125 of 24 May 1978.

: The £51 million referred to in the reply to Parliamentary Question No. 155 on 30 May 1978 is, as indicated in that reply, made up of £50.03 million in respect of levies on exports within the Community and £0.97 million in respect of levies on exports outside the Community.

The amount of £50.03 million, which represents MCA charges on exports to other member states, was taken into account in arriving at the overall figure of £244.5 million shown as receipts under the FEOGA Guarantee Section in 1977 in the reply to Question No. 125 of 24 May 1978. The gross receipts under the FEOGA Guarantee Section (£294.48 million) were reduced by the amount of £50.03 million giving the net figure of £244.5 million for receipts.

The amount of £0.97 million, representing MCA charges on exports to non-member states, is part of the European Community's own resources and hence is reflected in the figure of £22.1 million shown in the reply to Question No. 125 as Ireland's contribution in 1977 to the budget of the European Communities.
