Vol. 307 No. 6

Written Answers . - County Cork Salmon Fishing .

147.

asked the Minister for Fisheries the basis on which the boundaries of Kenmare Bay, County Cork, were settled for salmon fishing purposes; if he considers there is a need to review these boundaries; and if he has any proposals in that regard.

: The boundaries of the 17 fishery districts are set out in the Second Schedule to the Fisheries (Consolidation) Act, 1959, in pursuance of which Kenmare Bay lies within the Kerry fishery district. Under the proposed restructuring of inland fisheries, for which fresh legislation is being prepared, it is proposed to condense groupings of existing fishery districts into a smaller number of fishery regions.
