Vol. 307 No. 14

Written Answers . - Licensed Trade .

149.

asked the Minister for Justice if he will state in relation to the Report of the Restrictive Practices Commission on competition in the licensed trade: (a) his attitude to the recommendation that it no longer be necessary to extinguish existing licences in order to obtain a new one; (b) his attitude to the recommendation that a national licensing authority be set up; and (c) his attitude to the recommendation that the powers of the Garda Síochána to enter clubs be the same as their powers to enter licensed premises.

: I am considering the recommendations made by the Restrictive Practices Commission for the amendment of the Intoxicating Liquor Acts together with the various other proposals for the amendment of these Acts which I have received. I am not, however, in a position at present to say which amendments, if any, I will propose.
