Vol. 307 No. 14

Written Answers . - County Waterford Sheep Losses .

39.

asked the Minister for Agriculture the estimated number of sheep lost in the mountainous areas of County Waterford during the year's blizzards; and his proposals regarding financial assistance to the farmers who suffered these losses.

: The information available to the Department is that approximately 2,300 sheep were lost in the mountainous areas of County Waterford due to snowfalls earlier this year. The question of what measures, if any, might be appropriate is still under examination but I hope to be in a position to take a decision on the matter shortly.
