asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs the action, if any, he proposes to take following the official publication of the Amnesty International report on alleged police brutality in Northern Ireland.

: In keeping with the Government's well-known position regarding the protection of the rights of persons in custody in Northern Ireland I will continue to monitor closely all aspects of the situation concerning the interrogation of suspects. As was indicated on 14 June in reply to a previous question from the Deputy, I have recently sought and received from the British authorities an assurance that that they stand by the undertaking given by their Attorney General before the European Court of Human Rights.
