: Since taking up office I have established a separate section in my Department to promote and guide youth development in conjunction with the national organisations. I have also established a committee to report on the nature and effectiveness of the programmes being carried out by the youth organisations (non-uniformed) in receipt of grants, direct and indirect, from the Department of Education and to make any recommendations deemed appropriate for the improvement and development of the youth services. I have asked this committee to furnish me with an interim report before 31 August 1978. The appropriateness of action such as that contemplated in the Deputy's question would be a matter requiring consideration in the light of the recommendations in the committee's report.
