Vol. 308 No. 3

Written Answers. - County Cork ESB Connections.

492.

asked the Minister for Industry, Commerce and Energy when houses in the Gorthloughra, Kealkil, and Bantry areas, County Cork, will be connected for electricity; since connection was promised for October 1978, at the latest.

I am informed by the ESB that connection of eligible householders in the Gorthloughra area near Bantry to the electricity supply under the 1976 rural electrification scheme is expected to be completed in six to eight weeks' time. The board regret that, because of the heavy workload in west Cork generally, an unavoidable delay occurred in completing the scheme in the Gorthloughra area.

There are some eligible householders in other areas near Bantry, including the Kealkil area. The board tell me that all such applicants will not be connected to the electricity supply until about Easter next year.
