asked the Minister for Social Welfare the number of contributors in each category, and the amounts contributed, to the pay-related fund for the last period for which figures are available.

The number of contributors in each category is as follows:

1. Insured for all benefits

2. Insured for all benefits except unemployment benefit

3. Insured for all benefits except unemployment benefit and occupational injuries benefit (Ministers of Religion)

4. Soldiers insured for maternity, treatment and widows' benefit during service and all benefits after discharge

5. Insured for widows' and orphans' pensions and occupational injuries benefit only

There is no separate fund for pay-related benefits. The pay-related contributions paid for the year 1977 amounted to £26.462 million.
