asked the Minister for Tourism and Transport if he has been in contact with British Petroleum International Limited regarding compensation due to this country, and specifically to the Defence Forces, arising out of the anti-pollution treatment carried out by Irish naval vessels.

Details of the costs incurred in connection with the Christos Bitas incident by the various Irish authorities concerned are being assembled with a view to pursuing a claim for compensation.
