The full amounts allocated to each vocational education committee for the free post-primary book scheme in the year 1977-78 and the basic grant already paid for 1978-79 are as shown on attached schedule. A supplementary grant of £12,600 has yet to be distributed for the year 1978-79.
An average increase of 6.1 per cent in the cost of school books was approved by the Prices Commission with effect from April of this year.
