Vol. 309 No. 5

Written Answers. - Dublin National Monument.

406.

asked the Minister for Finance if a national monument has been discovered on the projected site of public housing at Balally, Dublin 14; the steps being taken to investigate and conserve the monument; and the delay, if any, which will be caused to the building works in the area.

The site referred to includes a bank which may be a part of the Pale Ditch but as the proposed development scheme will not interfere with it, there should be no delay to the building works. Accordingly, the investigation of the bank is not necessary at present.

The maintenance of the bank, if it should prove to be a national monument, would be the responsibility of the Dublin County Council who own it.
