Vol. 309 No. 5

Written Answers. - Flat Conversions.

455.

asked the Minister for the Environment (a) the number of applications made in each local authority area for permission to convert houses to flats for each year since 1963, with regard to the provisions concerning planning permission under the planning Act, 1963; (b) the number of appeals to him in each local authority area for each year since 1963; and (c) the number of these granted in each area.

456.

asked the Minister for the Environment (a) the number of applications for permission to retain existing flat conversions made to each local authority; and (b) the number of these applications which were granted by each local authority; (c) the number of these applications which were made to him, and the number of these which were granted; (d) the number of applications to retain existing conversions which were appealed to him; and the number of these which were granted by him in respect of each local authority, for each year since 1963.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 455 and 456 together.

The information requested by the Deputy in respect of applications to local authorities is not available in my Department. The statistics in respect of planning appeals do not distinguish those relating to flat conversions but the numbers of such cases are believed to have been relatively small.
