Vol. 309 No. 8

Written Answers. - Fire Service.

107.

asked the Minister for the Environment the extent of the present fire service for the Shankill/ Ballybrack areas; if he has any plans for its improvement; and when such improvements will be brought into effect.

Fire fighting services for the Shankill/Ballybrack areas are provided by Dún Laoghaire Corporation from their fire station in Georges Place, Dun Laoghaire. I understand that the corporation propose to build a new fire station at Kill Avenue, Dun Laoghaire, which will provide an improved service for the areas in question. I also understand that the corporation are in the process of purchasing the site for the new station and that contract documents for the station are being prepared.
