As I explained to the House in replies to Questions on 14 February and 14 November 1978 as recorded in the Official Report, Volume 303, columns 1096-1101 and Volume 309, columns 760-761, respectively, a review of the whole area of private rented accommodation that was carried out by the Department of the Environment included an examination of the workings of the Rent Restrictions Acts, 1960 and 1967. The results of that review are at present under consideration in consultation with the other Departments concerned, including my own Department.
