Vol. 309 No. 8

Written Answers. - Local Authority Pay Increases.

425.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will give details of the applications made by each local authority in 1978 for permission to raise overdrafts to enable them to pay wage and salary increases, showing in each case (a) the category of workers affected and the amount of the increase in wages and/or salaries; (b) the date the request was made; and (c) his decision in each case.

While no such application has been received in my Department, I should mention that overdraft applications on revenue account are related to fluctuations in the cash flow of local authorities rather than to specific items of expenditure.
