asked the Minister for Education the present position in regard to the provision of a permanent extension to the national school, Kilcloon, County Meath; where classes are taking place in pre-fabs and in the local hall.

My Department has proposals to replace Kilcloon national school by a new school.

A report on a full survey of the site offered is awaited from the Commissioners of Public Works.

asked the Minister for Education why there are no proposals to replace with permanent classrooms the pre-fabs now in use at Stamullen and Lismullen national schools, County Meath.

The question of the provision of additional permanent accommodation at Stamullen national school, County Meath, is under investigation at present. When the matter has been considered the management will be advised of the outcome without delay.

With regard to the position at Lismullen national school my Department has no application for the replacement of the pre-fab classroom in use at the school.

asked the Minister for Education the plans, if any, for the provision of a new national school on the south side of the town of Navan, County Meath.

My Department has proposals to provide a 16-classroom school in the Clogherboy district and as a long-term plan a 16-classroom school in the Limekilnhill area over on the south side of Navan Town. The proposals have been referred to the administrator who has been asked to seek suitable sites.

asked the Minister for Education the schools in County Meath, where due to overcrowding, classes are having to be held in a local hall or other buildings separate from the school; and when he expects this situation to cease.

According to records in my Department, classes are being held in a local hall or other building separate from the school in the case of the following national schools:— 16067 Clonard, 17560 Dunderry, 17652 Kilcloon, 17742 Kiltale, 18016 Ballivor, 18767 Donacarney.

Schemes are in hand or under way to provide extra permanent accommodation by way of new schools or extension schemes.
