asked the Minister for the Environment if he is aware of the anxiety of residents in the Cashel, County Tipperary, area regarding the delay in providing a new housing estate in the town; if he will request the local authority to proceed with the scheme and to use the existing sewerage facilities pending the construction of the new treatment works; the estimated cost of the scheme; the number of houses to be provided; when they will be ready for occupation; and the capital cost of the scheme.

I am aware that there is a need for a local authority housing scheme in Cashel. I have already approved the urban district council's outline plans for a first phase of the scheme, comprising 52 houses and estimated to cost £620,000 at current prices.
The detailed planning of the scheme, including the sewerage services, is a matter in the first instance for the local authority.
I will consider any proposal which the local authority may make to me for implementation of the scheme, and for its servicing. I cannot say at this stage when the houses will be ready for occupation.
