Vol. 310 No. 1

Written Answers. - Disadvantaged-Areas Scheme

339.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will include north Meath in the area for inclusion in the disadvantaged areas for submission to the EEC; if he has received the submission of Meath County Committee of Agriculture on the matter; and if the committee's views will be put before the EEC Commission.

The Meath County Committee of Agriculture furnished to my Department a list of the various areas, including North Meath, which they considered eligible to be designated under the Disadvantaged Areas Schemes. These areas have been carefully examined in my Department with a view to identify-ing those which warrant designation under the relevant EEC directive. Only when the review for the country as a whole has been finalised will it be possible to decide which areas will be included in the submission to the authorities in Brussels.
