Vol. 310 No. 1

Written Answers. - Brucellosis Reactors.

342.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will arrange to have a hardship fund provided for farmers who have many brucellosis reactors in a pre-intensive area.

The conditions of the Pre-Intensive Brucellosis Scheme relating to the removal of reactors and the movement of non-reactor animals are substantially less stringent than those applying in the compulsory eradication areas and are designed to avoid imposing undue hardship on herdowners participating in the scheme. In the circumstances I do not consider that the extension of hardship payments to cover brucellosis reactors in the pre-intensive area would be warranted.
