asked the Minister for the Environment the number of library projects sanctioned for the year 1977-78; the location and cost of each project; the number of libraries awaiting sanction; their location; and the projected cost.

The following are details of loans for library projects sanctioned to date during 1978:

The number of libraries at present awaiting loan sanction is 20, at the following locations: Clare (3), Dublin City (2), Galway (1), Kerry (1), Longford/Westmeath (1), Mayo (2), Meath (1), Offaly (3), Tipperary (2), Wexford (2), Waterford City (1), Waterford County (1).

The estimated cost of these libraries is approximately £3 million according to the information at present available. It should be noted, however, that estimates are not finalised in some cases and would therefore be subject to revision.
