Vol. 310 No. 4

Written Answers. - House Grant Application.

291.

asked the Minister for the Environment why a person (details supplied) in Dublin, who applied for the £1,000 grant, has only received an offer of £250 from the Department of the Environment.

The application in this case was made under the former grants scheme and a grant of £250 was approved. The applicant, who signed the contract to purchase the house in December 1976 is not eligible for the £1,000 grant as it is confined to houses purchased after 26 May 1977.

Following a recent inspection, it has been confirmed that the floor area of the house as constructed is in excess of that originally planned and the grant has been increased to £325. Arrangements will be made for payment when the applicant notifies my Department that she is in occupation of the house as her normal place of residence.
